ShopAssist help

Use the panic button to alert your security team silently. They receive your location so that they can find you, without a loud alarm on your phone.

Most of this guide is for staff using panic alerting. Shop owners can also manage who has access—see “Shop owners and staff accounts” below.

Signing in

  • Open the ShopAssist app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device.
  • Sign in with the work email address and password your organisation has given you.
  • If you see a sign-in error, check for typos and whether Caps Lock is on. If you still cannot sign in, speak to your shop owner or security contact so that they can confirm your account is active.
  • Install updates when prompted, so that alerts and location features continue to work reliably.

What the app is for

  • ShopAssist is a personal safety tool for staff. When you need help, you use the panic control and your security team is alerted.
  • From your perspective, the alert is sent silently: there is no loud alarm on your phone that would draw attention on the shop floor or in front of customers.
  • Your location is shared with the security team so that they can find you and respond.

Home screen and readiness

  • The home screen is your starting point. It should be clear that you are signed in and that the app is ready, should you need it.
  • Allow notifications and location when prompted. Both are required for panic alerts and for responders to reach you.
  • If your phone limits background apps, check battery settings so that ShopAssist is not closed when you need it.

Using the panic button

  • If you feel unsafe or need the security team, use the main panic control in the app.
  • The team receives your alert together with your location. Your device remains discreet: it is not intended to show others that you have called for help.
  • Stay as safe as you can whilst help is arranged. Follow your site’s procedures for evacuation or lockdown where these apply.

Location

  • Location allows the security team to see where you are when you trigger an alert. Allow location access when the app requests it.
  • If you denied access earlier, open your phone settings, find ShopAssist and enable location for the app.
  • Location is used for safety alerting, not to track your shift outside those flows.

Standing down safely

  • After a panic alert, the app waits for about 25 seconds before you can confirm that you are safe. This delay is deliberate: it gives the security team time to receive your alert and it reduces the risk of an accidental stand-down.
  • When the reset or “safe” option appears, use it only once the situation has ended and your procedures allow you to stand down.
  • Resetting tells the team you are safe. Misuse can cause confusion, so follow local guidance.

Notifications

  • Turn on push notifications for ShopAssist. Without them, you may miss messages about your account or follow-up from your team.
  • If notifications are missing, check Focus mode, Do Not Disturb and the app’s notification settings, and confirm that you are still signed in.

Shop owners and staff accounts

  • Shop owners can add and remove staff members in the app whenever they need to—for example when someone joins the team or when a colleague leaves.
  • Each member of staff should use their own sign-in details. If you need an account, or yours should be removed, speak to your shop owner.

Troubleshooting

  • Panic control greyed out or unavailable: check your network signal, confirm you are signed in and try restarting the app once.
  • Location warnings: enable precise location if your phone offers that option for the app.
  • Repeated crashes: update the app and your phone’s software. If the problem continues, report it to your IT or support contact, including your device model.
